Fields of the River commemorates the International Day of the Children's Book with a literary career and the visit of Cristian Andersen (07/04/2018)

The mayor announced that the Municipal Library has adhered to the Spanish Organization for the Children and Youth Book

The Department of Culture through the Municipal Library of Campos del Río, organized on April 2 a series of activities to commemorate the International Children's Book Day.

The day in which around 120 people participated, including children and relatives, began with the literary career "Hare and a MONAda recibé" that ran through different streets of the municipality.

On the afternoon of last Monday the Park of the Station concentrated the attention of children who were visited by the character of Hans Christian Andersen, who was a Danish writer and poet, famous for the publication of his stories for children, including titles popular as The Ugly Duckling, The Little Mermaid or The Snow Queen, among others that were adapted to the big screen by Disney.

In the visit, Andersen told the youngest of his beginnings and invited them to enjoy a career full of literary surprises where participants formed groups and started the march where they had to pass different tests while they were on the course with different reading messages until the arrival at the goal located in the Plaza de la Iglesia next to the Municipal Library where they were received by the Blasa goat, a children's mascot of Campos del Río.

The activities had the collaboration of the monitors of the Youth Employment and Training Program "Dinamización Campos del Río II" of Youth Guarantee, and continued throughout the afternoon with a high influx of children, fathers and mothers, who together with the monitors, they participated in an Andersen storytelling salad where fun was the star of the day with the interpretation and staging with puppets and dance of children's titles;

The Nightingale, The Red Shoes, Thumbelina, La Cerrillera and La Reina de las Nieves.

To conclude the commemoration of this day, all attendees were given a gift for their participation with a snack that included an Easter Monkey following the traditional tradition of Easter Monday.

The mayor and councilor of Culture of Campos del Río, María José Pérez Cerón, congratulated the staff of the Municipal Library and the monitors for the success of the activities and thanked the parents for their collaboration, participation and involvement in them, since " this day aims to promote the habit of reading among the smallest and from this council will continue to organize focused actions for children with the aim of promoting their training through recreational activities adapted to their age.

Finally, the mayor announced that "the Municipal Library has recently joined the Spanish Organization for the Children and Youth Book, wanting to enhance reading among children who are protagonists of the present and future of our people."
