The University of Murcia (UMU) and the city of Campos del Río today signed a collaboration agreement that has as main objective the creation of a permanent headquarters of the university in this municipality to contribute to its development and dynamism.
The agreement was signed by the rector, José Orihuela, and the mayor, José María Pérez, during a ceremony which was held in the building of convalescence.
The director of this permanent headquarters of university extension, Professor Cristina Cuello has advanced its goal of promoting from the same all actions of educational, cultural and sports type and others that enhance the life of this municipality.
Quality coordinator of the UMU, Miguel Angel Perez has informed about the possibilities offered by the University Volunteer Program, based on which can also develop activities of collective interest of the UMU and the municipality of Campos del Río.
The mayor said that the city needs the support of all to get the boost it needs because it has remained stopped in time.
He also explained that the town has enormous potential, which will allow the development of various projects, for which the collaboration of the UMU is of great interest.
The Vice Chancellor of Education and Innovation, Pedro Miralles, said that the UMU has regional vocation, as evidenced by the fact that there are already fifteen permanent seats created in several municipalities.
The rector of Students, Carmen Ferrandiz, expressed his satisfaction for this new facility that starts today.
The event was closed by the rector, who has offered the collaboration of the institution he presides to contribute to the revitalization of Campos del Río.
The signing of the agreement was also attended by the Councillor for Women, Social Services, Celebrations and Mobility of that municipality, Antonia Lopez.
