The chaplaincy of the Campos del Río prison manages the donation of 18 liters of hydroalcoholic gel for the center (04/06/2020)

The Lorquina company of professional hygiene Higielor SL has donated 18 liters of hydroalcoholic gel to the Murcia II Penitentiary Center in Campos del Río.

A donation that has been managed through the center's chaplaincy that contacted the prison management to follow the established protocols and comply with all security measures.Since the start of the pandemic, the Penitentiary Pastoral Delegation has continued to work in this penitentiary center, although, due to the circumstances of isolation, the entry of volunteers to the prison was prohibited in order to avoid possible contagion.

"We understand that it is necessary to take extra security measures, although fortunately there have been no infections, that is why we started a correspondence project with the inmates, in order to inspire them and accompany them," says Antonio Sánchez Martínez, chaplain of this prison, who also manifests that since last week he can already access the center to see the prisoners and to administer the sacraments to them.Although the time allocated to the inmates' phone calls to their relatives has doubled from the prison, which was usually 10 minutes per week, Sánchez explains that the inmates have spent a long time without receiving visits “which are an incentive and a reason for joy for them ”and that is why this letter correspondence project, in which 15 volunteers and approximately 30 inmates participate,“ is being very positive because it has allowed them to interact with outsiders and is doing them a lot of good "In addition to this initiative, in early May, some regular collaborators of the chaplaincy recorded a video with a song performed by the inmates of the center who, from their experience of deprivation of liberty, wanted to convey a message of encouragement and hope with some advice to make confinement more bearable for everyone.

“Although it sometimes seems hard to believe, there is much to be learned from the inmates; they never cease to amaze us, ”says the chaplain.
