The municipal public library of Campos del Río 'Miguel de Cervantes' widens its catalog of titles thanks to the generous donation of books by the well-known Assistant Director of the Royal Academy 'Alfonso X El Sabio' and official chronicler of Villa de Mula, Juan González Castaño.
In the library we can find a series of works edited by González along with other authors from the Region of Murcia and Campos del Río, reaching a total figure close to 80 original copies.
Precisely in recent days, the municipal library has received another outstanding donation, in this case by Eduardo García Pérez, author of the town that has already published several copies and has been the architect of the San Juan Bautista school library in the town where you can find children's theme titles.
The mayor of Campos del Rio and Councilor for Culture, María José Pérez Cerón, wanted to publicly acknowledge Juan González and convey his gratitude on behalf of all the campers and campers for their generous and selfless contribution to the culture of our municipality, something that has also extendable to the countryman Eduardo García.
Pérez Cerón has taken advantage of these donations to remember the importance of having a library in Campos del Río that "is rich in terms of the quality of the works that house its lejas and that cover literary concerns of any age", while at the same time put in value "the magnificent service that is provided throughout the year, which is free and open to all", so he wanted to invite all campers to visit our public library and enjoy the works that are there as to participate in the activities that are organized from the library and the Department of Culture.
Finally, the mayor has noted the commitment that the Government Team has been making throughout the legislature from the Department of Culture, performing activities for all ages, public and betting on the maintenance and promotion of culture in all its aspects and spaces, such as the maintenance of the municipal library and the expansion of its catalog of titles that, together with the development of activities carried out there, have allowed for an increase in public visits and library activity year after year.
On the other hand, during these years the culture has been present in the street with the realization of multiple exhibitions of painting and sculpture, contests and contests of outdoor painting and related to cinema and music in our town, edition by the Municipality of books of authors of the municipality, theatrical performances and activities of cultural revitalization focused on children.
Notable mention has been the recent inauguration of the municipal archive 'Matías Valverde García' that has allowed the restoration and classification of the graphic and written history of our town or events such as the homage to the writer Eduardo García.
