The Department of Education of the City of Campos del Río has announced this week that in a few days work will begin on the creation of a new School Garden in the facilities of the public school San Juan Bautista.

This action is part of the general project of Ecological Gardens in Campos del Río in which the City has been working for some time and that the residents of the town can produce their own horticultural products in different plots for this purpose that will be equipped with irrigation material, seeds, plants to be cultivated and everything necessary to carry out the cultivation tasks by ecological methods and respectful with the environment without forgetting the good use of water and the fundamental saving of this important raw material in our zone.

In this way, self-sustainability in the cultivation of plants and vegetables is pursued, while the sustainable environmental culture is inculcated among the population through ecological methods and the traditional agricultural tasks that are so rooted in Campos del Río are disseminated and promoted. through educational projects like this that are aimed at both young people and adults of different ages, as pointed out by the mayor of the municipality, María José Pérez Cerón.

Pérez Cerón explained that "from the council are aware of the importance for our students the proper development of this activity .. We will give a new impetus to this educational project in which we have been working for several months and for which we have the collaboration of the center's management and the faculty's staff, so in the next few days we will start the new School Garden, which will replace the previous one, since it does not meet the optimum conditions for the proper development of the activity, which is why move their location from the current one to the primary patio area, in addition to implementing an innovative drip irrigation system that will help save water, which is so important in sustainable agriculture, "said the mayor, who concluded by emphasizing the importance of the values ​​that are transmitted to students with this kind of projects, values ​​such as teamwork, companionship, responsibility,

care, perseverance and others, "that will surely bear good fruit in the future".

This School Garden in the CEIP San Juan Bautista, adds to a battery of measures that since June have been adopted from the departments of Education, Works and Services that have consisted in performances of maintenance, repair and adaptation of facilities in the Center with an investment of 4,000 euros enabling the installation of 3 air conditioners in the classrooms that are added to 3 by the Education Council, in addition to the painting of 2 complete classrooms, the repair of defects in other 5 the infantile and primary courses or the new white paint applied in all the porch of entrance to the center that presented a considerable deterioration.

The maintenance tasks were completed canceling the existing cracks in 15 windows of the classrooms and acting on small plumbing repairs.

Textbooks and Grants for School Supplies worth 10,000 euros

In a clear commitment to public education and free, the City Council reminds that until the next day 30 you can apply for aid of 50 euros for school materials for students from Campos del Río who study their primary and secondary education.

To this end a provision of 10,000 euros has been arranged that will benefit 200 families of the municipality and that is added to the program of free textbooks launched in the course 2015-2016 by the Department of Education and Social Services in which has invested more than 8,000 euros benefiting more than 210 schoolchildren and that in this course has been completed with the system launched by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.
