Since May 2017, the General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions, at the request of the command tables of the Murcia II regional penitentiary center, located in the municipality of Campos del Río, Murcia, for its positive therapeutic and training qualities for the reeducation of inmates, authorize the implementation of the project "Guardians of Seeds", presented by the Templar Association of Jumilla (ATJ), whose users are punished in the Special Treatment Unit (UTE) with problems of addiction to drugs subject to strict rehabilitation programs , the ATJ, together with the collaboration of the prison establishment itself, have not stopped investing in the plot of 600 m2, assigned to the milites Christi by the Subdirectorate of Treatment.
In this space, reduced its performance by the rubble with which it was terraplenado, the contribution of ground of both the ATJ and the penitentiary center, allows the cultivation, especially of protected native species and / or endangered, under ecological discipline, highlighting the beans in their varieties of Murcia and Cartagena respectively, tomatoes, aubergines "egg of bull" - in danger of extinction - medicinal herbs, aromatic, fruit trees, floriculture, using recycling techniques that apply to waste generated by the establishment itself penitentiary, under scrupulous respect for the environment and fight against global warming.
The ATJ, which does not have any kind of help or public subsidy, is nourished by donations, micro-patronage, specific assistance from the Jumillana Cultural Association (Barcelona) in charge of the Commendation of Catalonia, Andorra, France and Aragon, and a powerful volunteerism, non-profit in its purest form.
