Citizens has asked in the Congress of Deputies "urgent and determined actions" to address the situation that exists in the prison Murcia II, located in Campos del Río.
Deputy Miguel Garaulet has registered a battery of questions to the Government after noting that in the last two months the prison has registered four serious incidents, of which three have had their epicenter in module 15, which houses women prisoners.
"The incidents have been aggressions that coincide with the time in which said module has been subjected to a series of works consisting of installing isolation cells", works that Garaulet has recalled have been denounced by the prison union ACAIP " to understand that they violate the principle of classification and internal separation of prisoners, contemplated in the General Penitentiary Organic Law as well as in the Penitentiary Regulation ".
The union argues that these works lacked all the permits, licenses and projects necessary to develop them, "since these actions modify the security structure of the prison itself, which has ended up causing the serious incidents that we denounce".
Just a week ago, the module was still used without the mandatory assessment of occupational risks of the dependencies, once the works were completed, according to ACAIP.
As a result of the works, the inmates who have shown aggressive attitudes or who have even assaulted the civil servants and who should therefore be isolated, remain in the same module 15 in which they were housed, "thus generating a moral reinforcement of the internal commissioner of the act, and the loss of authority of the official who suffers them ".
Ciudadanos has asked the Ministry of the Interior for a report on the situation of the works of the Murcia II Prison Center, and to investigate whether the works carried out comply with the regulations.
"Otherwise, as it seems as it now violates the principles of classification and internal separation of prisoners that includes both the General Penitentiary Organic Law and the Penitentiary Regulation, we have requested that Interior restore the aforementioned module 15 to its state original ", has ratified Garaulet.
